Happy National Scrapbook Day to all! Though it should be ‘International Scrapbook Day’ by now, right? Who do we talk to about changing that?!
There’s so much going on in the online scrapbooking realm this weekend! I am going to tell you about all the things I’ve heard about, but first I’m going to tell you about the ones that I’m already involved in!
First up – I am super excited to say that I’m guesting at Shimelle Laine’s Blog today! (If you’re new here, visiting me from Shimelle’s blog then ‘Hello!’ – Please check out my current giveaway with news of a blog event I’m holding next weekend!)
My challenge was to add some sparkle… not too difficult for me as I love a bit of bling! But it was still a challenge as I had to create and email the page quickly, and I also tried to use lots of different types of sparkle without overwhelming the page. Here’s a little sneak of the page, but you’ll have to pop over HERE to see the whole thing and to get tips on how I worked quickly:
My supplies were mainly from Crate Paper Maggie Holmes, DIY Shop, and The Pier, with some extras including Studio Calico and Freckled Fawn Wood Veneers, American Crafts Wow Glitters, Papermania Pink Shimmer Dome Stickers, and a Glitz Uncharted Waters Rhinestone.
While you’re there check out all the other challenges – Shimelle has examples from a lot of talented scrapbookers, and the challenges are open for a week! Go HERE!
I’ve also been getting all sketchy lately – not just following a sketch, but actually designing the sketches! Check me out! My sketch skills aren’t perfect yet but it’s been an okay start…
I created this sketch for an SJ Crafts NSD Sketch Challenge:
I based it on my Disney Family layout on this post. As I’d already made that layout, I decided to use the sketch for a card, rotating it once to the right, and making the layers smaller, but you can see still the sketch there:
Supplies: Maggie Holmes and DIY Shop Collection Packs, Studio Calico Wood Veneer Cameras and Chevrons, My Mind’s Eye My Girl Enamel Dots, Hero Arts Clear Gemstones. It’s all layered up on a 6×6″ square kraft card blank, and the camera wood veneer is glittered with American Crafts Wow Glitter ‘Fountain’.
Make sure you go and check out the challenge HERE, if you enter you might win a £10 gift voucher to spend at SJ Crafts, and it’s open until the end of May. There’s plenty more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team on the sketch post to get you thinking, they did a fabulous job with my sketch! There’s going to be more NSD activities going on at the SJ Crafts blog and Facebook Page, so check those out and don’t miss out – I’ve heard whispers of a giveaway!
This is the sketch I made for CKCB:
See how I made it a bit nautical to go with my May Counterfeit Kit? Of course you could swap the anchor out for a different embellie to match your supplies/theme!
Here’s the layout I made with my sketch:
Go check out the other inspiration on offer HERE!
So that’s all the projects I’ve been involved in for NSD so far, but there’s so many more I could join in with today! Here’s what I’ve heard about and may well be investigating…
Two Peas In A Bucket
Big Picture Classes
The Paper Bakery
Is that enough to keep you busy?! If not I’m sure there’s more going on, somewhere!
Have an amazing NSD, I hope you manage some scrapbooking! x
