It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, as I’m busy preparing for my Frosty Festivities free blog event! (If you missed out on the details, see HERE, where there’s also a giveaway with a few days left to enter!). I’ve been watching festive movies while I’m crafting to get me in the mood – I used to say Christmas must not be mentioned until December, but since I discovered blogging I start earlier and earlier!
To remind me that it is still Autumn at the moment, here’s a few non-Christmas projects, starting with a Thanks card with a few leaves for fall! All 3 projects on today’s post use Elle’s Studio sketches, which I love to work with – though my projects usually end up busier than the sketch!
Best Friends Thanks Card:
This card is based on the most recent Sketch from Thursday 31st October:
I thought it was an excellent opportunity to use the ‘thanks’ bunting from the Everyday Greetings Printables! I used lots of happy colours from different Elle’s collections, and I think the leaves add the perfect ‘fall’ touch. A couple of the leaves are stuck flat, and a couple are on pop-dots, to add depth.
Big Bite Layout:
I started with the Sketch from the 3rd of October for this page:
My son absolutely loves fruit, he will happily munch down a whole apple, core and all! I added lots of lovely gems and sequins, but the bold colours stop it from looking girly:
For the lines behind the photo on the sketch I used lots of branding strips – I love how Elle’s Studio papers come with one patterned side of the branding strip:
I stitched some Day-To-Day Tidbits together to make some bunting, and stuck them on with pop-dots (the pie-chart makes me think of apple pie!):
Be the Belle Layout:
This layout was based on the Sketch from Thursday October 24th:
This page has a photo of my sister from the joint Disney-themed birthday party we had last year. She looked gorgeous as Belle from Beauty and the Beast:
I hid some journaling about my sister and our Disney love:
And as her birthday was the big 21 I made sure to include that number on the page, with a few gems around it of course:
I have made a page before with another sheet of this You & Me ‘Chalk Love’ paper, you can see the previous page HERE. I bought a second sheet of the paper because I loved it so much, and by rotating the paper for this layout, and using much bolder colours, I’ve ended up with a very different page. The layouts will be in separate albums too so that’s okay!
So there we go, a few non-festive projects before this blog is overrun with winter and Christmas inspiration!
What do you think of my takes on the Elle’s Studio sketches? Do you ever follow sketches – if so do you stick close to the original or change-it-up a lot?
Bye for now, Jennifer x
