From Old Stash To New Pocket Cards + A Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Refresh Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the beginning HERE!

One of the ways I’ve been trying to cleanse is by sorting out my craft space (more on that tomorrow). While sorting through it all I realised there were some thing I just keep rummaging through and never using, because they didn’t quite work for me. Time to jazz things up a bit! I pulled out some Journal Cards / Pocket Scrapbooking Cards which I didn’t think I’d use as they were:

A couple of them were just too boring – I never found them inspiring enough to actually pull out and use. A couple of others had writing on which I didn’t like (eg. the ‘Mending 10 Yards’ bit).

Next I gathered some stickers and gems:

And decorated to my heart’s content:

Now they look much more fun and ready to use on a scrapbook page or card!

  1. Brilliant! I love your revamped and up-styled version so much more. Now that is refreshing! Yes I always have some supplies that could use revamping and I need to get to it. Thanks for the push!

  2. I have a lot of old stamps that I would like to do something with to update their look. I’m just not sure how to do that, but could be mixing and layering them to make embellishments. I clean and purge at least once per year, sometimes more.

  4. I’ve got quite a few of these cards that I just havent thought will go with whatever layout I’m doing, having seen you jazz these up I think I should probably do the same to mine to make them work with the layouts 🙂

  5. I have loads of older stash that could do with revamp so that I might actually put it on a project! I do have a good sort through every now and then – in fact I was sorting and purging a couple of boxes last week.

  6. This is a great idea! I have a lot of PL type cards which could do with revamping and seeing this I think I will give it a go! I probably go through my stash about once a year – I give bits II will no linger use to friends and to a lady on UKScrappers who uses them for charity.

  8. Great idea, what a transformation! I have loads of stickers and diecuts which I still love but somehow don’t use, maybe I should look at combining them …. also I have lots of brads which I may have a tinker with, see if I can make them more tempting. Thanks for the inspiration :o)

  9. I definitely have some items that could use a revamp. I have a collection of pocket cards and I have a feeling now that some of them will be revamped with stickers as such. I go through my stash at various times throughout the year. One month I may re-organize/declutter my papers and a few months later I’ll go through my color bins and get them back organized while I declutter at the same time. I find it’s a great way to remember what I have, too.

  10. Great idea! I definitely have some journaling cards and such that don’t match my style or have text I don’t care for. They could definitely be revamped.

  11. When I started PL I cut a load of scraps of card and pp into pl cards. I never thought of embellishing them in this way. Like all scrappers I have stash I no longer love and this is the perfect antidote.

  12. I’ve got heaps of paper I’d never use – however with a lick of gesso/paint or spray (to calm down say really over the top patterns ) and some punches – they could make great embellishments that can be dressed up with gems/stickers etc- same for using up scraps that the overflowing scrap box holds would work a treat. I’m not a good purger – I need pushing!!

  13. I find the biggest deterrent from using certain items in my stash is the colors. There are quite a few things that don’t really inspire me color-wise and that’s a big challenge. I need to focus on expanding my horizons or adding paint or ink to add in colors that do speak to me more I guess.

  16. I have plenty of items that could be revamped. I did one just yesterday by die cutting the word “thank you” from a plain 3×4 and jazzed it up with stickers to give to my daughter 🙂

  17. I wish I purged more often, but it is usually once a year. I’d like to revamp stickers and older designer paper I thought was perfect at the time.

  18. Love how you revamped these. I have alot of PL type cards, too, that I need to revamp. That and some really old vellum quote stickers that I need to figure out how revamp. I’m still thinking about that one… 🙂

  19. I definitely have a lot of things to revamp. My first scrapbooking supplies came from my mom’s stash from when she was pregnant with me back in 1996 and some from before she got married. :0

I still love the stencils and papers, but some just needs to be redecorated and treated in the faded areas.

  20. Your revamped cards look awesome. I dont have a lot of old stash but the stuff I do have is of the unloved kind. I love the idea of revamping it into something I can use x

  21. I went through a big purge when I moved into my new craft space this fall. The things that need a facelift are some half-finished canvases. . . not a supply per se, but some things to finish up. Also, a few journals could use a sprucing up. I love giving supplies away, but I also love receiving them! LOL!

  22. I have so much older stash I sometimes feel overwhelmed. Think I need to have a create day where I just sit and make journalling cards and embellishments.

  23. I’m impressed – especially with what you did with the “make 10 yards” piece – very clever!
I’m always altering things with the CKCB, but quit eoften end up with a stack of 3×4 cards that didn’t quite make it onto a page. I need to get some of those altered items onto cards rather than let them pile up!
