Washi and Words Bright and Fresh Cards

(This post is part of my Refresh Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the beginning HERE!)

This hour I’ve got some bright and fresh cards to share with you:

I decided to keep things simple for this set of cards, which are to send to people who need their day brightening!

To keep it clean and simple I used just Washi + Words.

Here’s how it went…

1. I picked three card blanks:

2. I cut three pieces of white cardstock to fit the card blanks:

3. I stuck washi all over them:

It was that easy! The card on the left was the simplest, I just stuck the washi in lines straight across. The card bottom right was a little more fiddly, but only really the first bit which I put across the diagonal line from top left to bottom right. After that it was easy to follow with the other washi strips. For the card on the top right I cut the washi into banner flags…

You fold the washi in half, making sure you fold it so the sticky bit is on the outside:

Then snip from the outer corner into the middle:

Or from the middle at a diagonal angle towards the outer edge:

Depending on which shape you want the flag to be!

Then all I had to do was stick the cardstock onto the card blanks, and choose a few words to stick on top:

Hey presto!

Be Inspired:

Make a project with just washi and words

Do something on the diagonal

Send a bright and colourful card to someone

Would these refresh your spirits if they came through your door?

Remember that commenting on this post, and any other over this weekend, will count as another entry into the Grand Giveaway, but only if you’ve registered your interest in winning that prize right HERE!  {NOW CLOSED}

I’ll see you again at 8pm!

  2. These cards are fabulous! I love the “You Brighten My Day” card the most but they are all awesome! Washi Tape is the way to go!! I have tons of it and use it for EVERYTHING!! TFS!

  3. Ooh these are absolutely gorgeous and I have “pinned” them. Another project I want to have a go at!! Anyone who receives one of your cards will feel instantly cheered!

  4. Yes these would definitely lift my spirits if they popped through my letterbox. I have so much washi, what a great way to use some of it! :o)

  5. Another great way to use washi! I’ve been creating washi+three cards lately where I add a couple of strips of washi along the top & bottom of the card front, then line up three similar embellishment across the middle of the card and stamp a sentiment underneath them.

  6. I can’t believe I have yet to buy ANY washi tape. It seems like such a versatile and long lasting product that produces beautiful results. I need to get my butt in gear and get some!

  7. I love me some washi and I love these cards! I am going to be scrap lifting these!!! Thank you for the inspiration!

  8. I love washi tape. It seems like you can do anything with them!
I’ve always cut the triangle into the tape. I’ve never tried making a point. Hmmm…. the endless possibilities
