Hello everyone!
It’s time for the Scrap 365 August Sketch Challenge! Here’s the sketch:
This month the winner will receive some Glitz products from Stampbox, so make sure you join in!
Here’s my layout for some inspiration…
Victorian Madam:
The sketch team were challenged to use OLD STASH for this month’s page, so I pulled out a whole heap of unloved supplies. This pile is what I started with, a kind of ‘kit’ to match my photo – the items are mostly around 3 years old, some are older:
To start the page off I began by making a square-ish paper stack for my photo, and then tried it out on a few different shades of cardstock:
I decided I liked the cream shade on the right the most.
I checked the sketch again and noted the strips of thinner paper at the top and the bottom of the sketch, so I made some too:
Then I started adding embellishments to my page. One way I find it easier to use up larger paper or chipboard pieces is to cut them in half – the yellow flower would have looked too gaudy as a whole flower, but just half of it peeking out from the paper stack looks really pretty:
When I had almost finished my page I added the journaling, but then the page looked too busy along the bottom edge:
Luckily I had used removable Herma tape-runner dots, so I was able to pull up the strips of paper and add a thinner strip instead, which makes the page look a bit cleaner:
I also had to move this phrase sticker over from where I’d originally planned to put it, because I hadn’t left space for my title! I like it even better here though, as it draws your attention down to my daughter’s eyes:
And here’s the whole page again so you don’t have to scroll back up:
What do you think, does this tempt you to go rummaging through some old stash to see if you can breathe new life into it? The only newer items I used on here were the alpha stickers for my title, the cardstock, and a couple of gems. I am very pleased to have used a few older papers and embellishments!
Don’t forget to check out the Scrap 365 Blog to see the samples from the rest of the Design Team and to maybe enter the challenge yourself!
Bye for now,

Very pretty page – i like how you replaced the line top right with the lettering, which really makes it hang together better (I think) than the original.
