(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2014 Blog Event – see the beginning HERE!)
Here’s another layout for you – a suitably candied-looking page about a gingerbread house:
This photo is of my sister and little miss with a gingerbread house we put together – it was a shop bought kit which we had lots of fun decorating. And sneaking the occasional sweet to eat of course!
I wanted the page to look iced and candied just like the house itself – here’s what I did…
I started with a Webster’s Pages All That Glitters ‘Shimmer’ piece of paper:
I cut a piece of wood patterned paper to make a mantlepiece – inspired by my Christmas Cards On The Mantlepiece from FF2013. Then I stamped some icicles onto white card:
I fussy cut the icicles , leaving a border at the top of them so I could adhere them to the back of the mantlepiece. Then I adhered the mantlepiece to the patterned paper using foam tape to give it some dimension:
I added a ‘gingerbread house’ card from the Webster’s Pages Gingerbread Village collection, and a gingerbread house sticker from the Pebbles Home For Christmas collection, to the top of the mantlepiece. I also painted crystal Stickles onto the icicles:
I gathered an assortment of beads that matched the colours of my layout:
And started sticking them as a border around my photo. I used glossy accents for this, with a blob for each larger bead along the top and the bottom edge of my photo:
And a line of glossy accents for the seed beads down the left and right hand edges of my photo:
The beads look just like sweets stuck on a gingerbread house:
I of course added a few gems for good measure too:
What do you think, is it sweet enough looking?
Create some icicles by stamping or cutting out triangles of white card
Use lots of beads for a border
Use a phrase card as the title for a layout or a sentiment for a card
Do you ever make a gingerbread house?
I’ll see you again in 60 minutes!
