Focus On Excess Supplies – Sticker Surplus!

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

Good morning! I hope you’re ready for a day of crafty inspiration!

To start the day off let’s focus on excess supplies. Think of something you’ve got too much of – paper, chipboard, punches, brads… whatever needs a dent made in it. Then go all out on your next project and use as much as possible! I chose to focus on stickers, and I used them to make this layout:

The only piece of patterned paper is the bit the journaling is written on, everything else is stickers!

Here’s what my sticker stash looked like when I tipped it out onto the table. This is most of my stickers, but I probably have a few more hidden away:

Because I knew I was going to go sticker crazy I chose a clean white background. I also stuck my title down first, and prepared my journaling (but didn’t stick it down yet) because I know that one of my biggest problems is forgetting to leave space for those two things:

Now I was able to let loose with the stickers without worrying about losing space for those things!

Next I added some background stickers – these were the stickers that were simpler shapes – and larger, or like patterned paper, or muted in colour:

Then I added the medium-sized stickers which had more interesting shapes. Some were stuck flat to the page, and some are on pop-dots. I stuck the photo down at this stage too:

Then I stuck the journaling down, and it was time for the accent stickers – the smaller ones to fill up the gaps and to make sure the colours were repeated around the page:

All I did after that was sprinkle on some gold mist drops, and some gems and enamel dots!

The journaling reads:

The Perfect Kiss? The kids may have been watching, the clouds might have been threatening rain, but a kiss from you, standing by the sea, is just perfect! Moments like this are what family holidays are all about… together time. xxx

It was good to use up some of the ‘lovey-dovey’ stickers on this page, I don’t often scrapbook about me and my husband so these have been in my stash for too long:

I enjoyed using a couple of big stickers to accentuate the photo too – the globe because we were on holiday and the sandcastle because this was the only day we got to play on the beach (it was a rainy holiday):

I’m definitely going to try this out with another box of excess supplies. What would you use?

Be Inspired:

Gather a supply which you have too much of and use lots on your next project

Stick your title onto your layout before anything else

Turn some feathers and a circle into a rosette

Get crafting! Add all your projects to the Challenge Linky. I’ll see you again at 11am,

Jennifer x

  1. Love the idea of starting with the title and it’s brilliant how you’ve used so many stickers but the page doesn’t look cluttered. I have too much of everything, but my chippies and die cuts drawers are overflowing so maybe I would start with those! :o)

  2. I love your layout! That picture is adorable! Thank you for inspiring me to use the stickers that I have. I definitely need to try to make a layout using a lot of sticker.

  3. What a great use of stickers….and placing the journaling first is something I should definately do more often instead of just squashing it in!

  4. I have never thought of tackling excess stash in this way. I have so many printed words and phrases and get totally flummoxed by how many i have, and I keep them tidied away.
I will take the plunge one day soon I think x

  5. Awwww…This is just the sweetest and most romantic LO ever!!!
Love the idea of going all out with one kind of excess supply. For me….it could be any of a dozen things that I have way too much of and hardly ever use! Eeek! My mind is going toward my buttons, but I am a cardmaker and I don’t think I can put very many buttons on one card!!
    Thanks for the inspiration!!

  6. This is great. I feel inspired to grab all those sticker I have and never use and get creative. This is a lovely LO and I would never have thought it was mostly stickers. Thanks for sharing. Hugz
