Vintage Camera = Male Birthday Card!

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

One of the things I like about camera icons is that they can be really great for male projects. That’s obviously not the only thing they can be used on, but when I see a vintage brown / black camera image I immediately file it away for when I’m stuck for a male card!

This vintage camera was from a sheet of Webster’s pages Dream In Color paper. I cut it down and added it and some triangle paper onto a piece of woodgrain paper, then stuck it all onto a square card:

I stamped the sentiment with grey and black inks, then found some ribbon which matched the colours of the camera:

And finished it off with a couple of wood veneer stars and chevrons:

Wood works great for male cards too, don’t you think?!

Be Inspired:

Use a vintage or black or brown camera on your next project

Use some chevrons to point to the center of your project

Put some triangle patterned paper along the base of a card or layout

Do you find it difficult to make male cards or is that just me?!

I’ll see you again in an hour,

  1. Oh yeah!!! I agree – I struggle with male cards… but look at this!!! What a great idea!
Love your card – its perfectly masculine! I’ll store this idea away!

  2. Great card! I love using the image from a paper. I’ve seen it and thought about it but haven’t done it yet… need to get on that!

  3. yes i find male card harder to do. There’s never as much inspiration for them. Now i’ve seen this one i’ll be hooking out any camera images i have x

  4. I also love vintage cameras (or anything vintage…except maybe a dress form!) for masculine cards. The camera especially looks great in shades of brown and I love the touches of aqua in the little arrow designs!

  5. Great card. The vintage camera image is perfect for a masculine card. Yes, they are harder for me, too, but I am finding some techniques that work for me.
