Sweet Xmas Layout – With a Christmas Star Template

Hello! Today I’ve another scrapbook page to share with you – this Sweet Xmas layout with a Christmas Star Template you can download to help you cut the stars on the background…

Every Christmas day I try to get a photo of my husband, the kids, and me. I want to make a special layout with each one, so I’ll know towards the end of each album (I file my layouts chronologically by year) I will find a Christmas page of us. So even though this photo isn’t the best quality – it was taken as the light was fading so it’s a bit blurry, and I don’t like myself in the picture as I was a bit overweight at the time – I still wanted to do it justice with a lovely page.

I definitely wanted to use the My Mind’s Eye Christmas On Market Street collection, as it’s my favourite collection this year. But all the background 12×12″ pieces that I had were very busy, and at first I couldn’t work out how I could use them:

        

So I sat and thought about what big image I could cut from one of the papers. I didn’t want to cut a Christmas tree as I’d done that last year (On my Giant Aperture Christmas Layout). In the end I realised a star would look nice and magical:

I only did one star to start with, cutting it out from the template, then drawing around it on the back of the paper before cutting it out:

But one star looked a little lonely by itself on the background cardstock that I’d chosen:

So I re-designed the template and cut out a couple more stars – another from the same 12×12″ sheet, and one from a piece of 6×6″ paper:

Once the stars were done I decided I liked them so much I’d add some more stars! I used the Happy Scatter ‘Stars Of Wonder’ 6×6″ stencil and some Metallic Gold Texture Paste by Heidi Swapp to decorate the background cardstock:

It gives a nice bit of shiny dimension:

Then I stamped some more stars on too:

I chose some ephemera pieces to use:

And then I realised I had more space at the right and bottom than I did at the left and top, so I cut off the larger areas of space, and matted the page onto the Christmas On Market Street ‘Merry & Bright Foiled’ paper (after gutting the middle of it to be used at a later date of course!):

Then I just needed to add the title, and some glitter puffy stickers and enamel dots (both also from the Christmas On Market Street Collection) to finish off the page:

I didn’t write my journaling before photographing it because I want to write names on it, but it’s going to go on the banner at the bottom right.

Be Inspired:

Download the template and use it to make embellishments or a decoration

Put lots and lots of stars on your next project

Place items in a diagonal (eg top left to bottom right) cluster
