Speedy Christmas Crafting Using A Recipe!

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Event – see a list of all the posts HERE)

We’re just over half-way through the month, and therefore half-way through Frosty Festivities 2015, so today I thought I’d share something to help you do some Speedy Christmas Crafting by using a recipe!

Speedy Christmas Crafting Using A Recipe at Jennifer Grace Creates

I made two Christmas cards and one winter-themed PL (pocket scrapbooking) card in about 45 minutes – very quick for me! Having a recipe makes it so much easier to pull out supplies – by limiting my choice I don’t spend ages dithering over what to use or rummaging through my stash, like I normally do in case I can find something more ‘perfect’!

If you’d like to set yourself this as a challenge you could use the recipe I picked, or you could make one up of your own – just pick a handful of types of item and write them down so you stick to them! Here’s my recipe:

Twine
Buttons
Paper Scraps
Ephemera
Word Stamps

You could apply this recipe to all kind of projects! You can also add plain card and card blanks, and ink pads, adhesive, etc (plus photos and journaling if you are scrapbooking) – all those crafty basics. Just try not to add any extra embellishments or fiddly techniques which would take up your time!

Here’s the items I pulled together to choose from:

It was mostly old stash from the last few years, except I included some new My Mind’s Eye Christmas On Market Street Ephemera because I like them so much!

First I chose a couple of card blanks, and cut a paper scrap down to 3×4″ for my PL card. Then I added more paper scraps on top of these:

Next was the twine, twirled into a twisty shape and stuck on with Glossy Accents on the cards, and wrapped around the PL card and attached with staples:

I played around with the ephemera until I found a few I liked, and stuck them on, either adhered flat or using foam dots to make them stand out:

Then they were finished off with the stamped words – all stamped with grey ink onto white card to keep it quick and easy – plus a few buttons:

Ready to give to family and friends or use on a PL layout or scrapbook page!

Be Inspired:

Use my recipe or create your own to make your next project

Use mostly old stash with just one newer item that you love

Use three different stamp sets or wooden stamps

What would you use this recipe to make?

Remember that commenting on this post, and any post that goes live during November 2015, will count as another entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}, but only if you’ve registered your interest in winning that prize right HERE!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another project for Frosty Festivities 2015!

  4. What a great idea. I often get a bit overwhelmed by my stash of craft supplies. Using a recipe like you suggest, will help me get started-just pull out a select few supplies rather than everything!

  5. This is a wonderful idea! I have never tried anything like this before. Look at your gorgeous projects – awesome work in only 45 minutes – I am super impressed! I am a very slow crafter – I would like to try this! I make cards so that’s what I’d use your recipe for! Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. I have a huge box full of Christmas themed papers and embellishments so this should be great motivation to use some of it. Most of it is very very old…and sadly neglected over the years so even better if I use it!
