Frosty Festivities Christmas & Winter

Announcing Frosty Festivities 2015 (+ a Giveaway!)

I’m here at last to announce Frosty Festivities 2015! Keep reading for more information on this fun & free event, and for a chance to enter the announcement giveaway!

(P.S. The event has now started! See the list of all the posts, including more giveaways, HERE!)

This time, due to my busy life, I’ve decided to run it as a month-long event (instead of cramming it all into one weekend). There will be at least one post a day from the 1st to the 30th of November.

If you’re new to my Frosty Festivities event you should be prepared for lots of Winter and Christmas crafty inspiration (including scrapbook layouts, cards, diy gifts, home decor, and more), plus giveaways and challenge prompts (giveaways and challenges will stay open until the 6th of December)!

Frosty Festivities 2015 Crafty Blog Event at Jennifer Grace Creates

I would like to have a blog hop, but I haven’t arranged one yet! Would anyone like to join in with a blog hop on Sunday the 15th of November? You’d just need to post a winter or Christmas crafty project, then link to the next person in the hop. If you want to join in please email me by Sunday the 1st of Nov at jennifergrace(at)hotmail(dot)co(dot)uk.

Now it’s time to kick things off with the announcement giveaway – by sharing news of this event you could win this prize:

Frosty Festivities 2015 Announcement Giveaway at Jennifer Grace Creates

The prize includes some American Crafts Be Merry stickers, ephemera, and a 6×6 pad, as well as a few other Christmas bits-and-pieces I found in my stash.

Please note: To enter this giveaway you must click on the Rafflecopter Widget below. Just leaving a blog comment won’t enter you – you need to then click on rafflecopter to say you’ve commented. Leaving a comment isn’t mandatory – and you can also complete other options, like sharing this post on Facebook or Pinterest, for more entries! Of course you can also comment and share without entering the giveaway if you wish.

 One winner will be chosen at random from all entries. It is open internationally. The giveaway closes on Monday the 9th of November at 12am GMT. The winner will be announced on the post for that day.

I hope you are excited about the event and the season. Tell me what you are looking forward to in the comments below!

The PIN IT Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

It’s time for the last giveaway of the night, and this one is just for Pinterest users, or those who are willing to start using Pinterest. (Sorry to everyone else, but hopefully you’ve enjoyed all the other giveaways!) {ALL NOW CLOSED}

If you don’t know what Pinterest is, then check out their ‘About’ page HERE. It’s a site where you can ‘pin’ images to virtual pinboards, and follow other people to discover what they are pinning too. You should be careful to pin from the original url – if you pin when you are on a blog or website homepage rather than the unique url then next time you click on that pin you might have pages and pages to scroll through before you find the original image!

I am a Pinterest lover. I find it so inspiring – when I get stuck for ideas I can often focus my crafting by heading over there and scrolling through my feed or my boards! Here’s some of the things I’ve made recently inspired by Pinterest…

THIS PIN of home decor inspired this card:

A Giveaway! Sponsored By Happy Scatter! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

It’s time for the last Etsy Shop giveaway of the event {NOW CLOSED}. This one is for my own Happy Scatter Etsy shop, where I sell stencils, wood veneers, flairs, die-cut 3×4 cards, and more, all which I have designed myself!

Happy Scatter Etsy Shop Selling Crafty Stencils and Embellishments!

If you’d like to add a few new bits and pieces to your stash, then keep reading for a giveaway at the end of the post!

I started my Etsy shop last year, after getting hold of Adobe Illustrator, and being given a Cricut Explore machine which meant I could cut stencils and die-cut cards I’d designed! I’ve been adding a variety of items since then, including cork stickers and flairs… I have lots more I want to add but I have more ideas than time!

Here’s a few items from the shop which go well with the ‘focus’ theme of this event…

1. Frameography Stencil – I try to make most of the stencil so that they could be used both as a whole stencil, or by masking off parts and just using bits of the stencil. This new one could be a cool background by using the whole thing, but you could also make the frames off and use them individually – my favourite is the Polaroid-style one near the middle:

The Frameography Stencil at the Happy Scatter Etsy Shop

2. Arrows and Triangles Flair Set – I’ve been having lots of fun making new flairs and this set is one which you can use on a variety of projects:

Arrows And Triangles Flair Set at the Happy Scatter Etsy Shop

3. Simply Life Everday Wood Veneers – This set features a camera, a frame, some chevron-style arrows, and a ‘simply life’ banner flag, so it’s got all the icons perfect for this ‘focus’ weekend:

Simply Life Everyday Wood Veneer Shapes at the Happy Scatter Etsy Shop

Do you use a lot of stencils, flairs, or wood veneers on your pages? I’ve been getting more and more into using stencils since designing my own!

Here’s the giveaway. One Lucky commenter will win:

Win £20 to spend at the Happy Scatter Etsy Shop!

£20 GBP to spend at the Happy Scatter Etsy Shop! Then winner will need to email me with their choices for what they’d like and I can send it out to them!

To enter the giveaway {NOW CLOSED}: Just pop over to the Happy Scatter Etsy Store, take a look around, and come back here to leave a comment telling me about an item or two that caught your eye (it doesn’t need to be ‘focus’ related, just anything you like).

I’d also love it if you popped by the Happy Scatter Facebook Page to say hi, but that’s not compulsory!

The giveaway closes at 10pm BST on Sunday the 24th of May 2015 {NOW CLOSED}. It is open internationally. The winner will be announced here on Thursday the 28th of May, so make sure you check back to see if you won.

Good luck! I’ll see you again in an hour!

A Giveaway! Sponsored By The Little Stamp Store! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

Here’s another giveaway for you {NOW CLOSED}! This one is sponsored by the beautiful Little Stamp Store who sell hand-carved rubber stamps that are gorgeously unique!

The Little Stamp Store Etsy Shop with Hand Carved Rubber Stamps

The Little Stamp Store is giving away a really amazing stamp set that I really really want for myself, so make sure you keep reading to find out how to win it…

I do love a really good stamp and I can never have too many in my opinion! I love how the stamps in the Little Stamp Store have examples of a way to use them in their images, and there’s a mix of them stamped on cards, tags, and fabric (eg little linen gift bags). It shows just how useful and versatile stamps can be!

Here are a few stamps from the store which go really well with the ‘Focus’ theme:

1. The Geometric Triangle Set – This new set would be great for making patterns, I love how it’s shown here stamped at the edge of a gift box. It makes it look so bold and trendy:

A Geometric Triangles Stamp Set at The Little Stamp Store

2. The Camera Stamp – This camera looks so cool! I can see this ending up stamped on lots of layouts and cards – the perfect accent icon:

The Camera Hand Carved Stamp at The Little Stamp Store Etsy Shop

3. The Arrow Stamp – I love this stamp for is simplicity. It’s exactly what I would reach for over and over again – because it’s not fussy it wouldn’t matter if you use it all the time on your scrapbook pages and other projects. I want to stamp it on all my envelopes when I address them:

The Arrow Hand Carved Rubber Stamp at The Little Stamp Store Etsy Shop

Aren’t they all amazing? I’m saving up to buy them all! I love thinking of Fran (the shop owner) carefully carving them all by hand in her new ‘shedio’ studio! It makes it extra special to use something that’s been made by hand.

Now for the giveaway. One lucky commenter will win:

A Personalised Arrows Stamp! How stunning is this? The winner can tell Fran what initials to include on their stamp, so it will be unique to you!

A Giveaway! Sponsored By Unwrap Colour! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

It’s time for another giveaway {NOW CLOSED}! This one is sponsored by the amazing Unwrap Colour, an Etsy shop that sells washi tape, bakers twine, stickers, and more!

Unwrap Colour Washi Tapes, Twine, Stickers and More!

Rose, the owner of the shop, has donated a brilliant prize, so keep reading to find out what it is and how to win it…

I can’t be the only one with a bit of a washi tape obsession. Stumbling across the Unwrap Colour shop was rather exciting! I have purchased a couple of rolls already but there are so many more in the shop that I’d like to get my hands on. There are lots of gorgeous colours and patterns. And there are a few other cool items in the shop too!

Here’s a few things from Unwrap Colour which go well with the ‘Focus’ theme:

1. Black & White Arrow Washi Tape – I love the monochromatic contrast of this tape, it’s so bold. Any project with this on would really catch your eye:

Black & White Arrow Washi Tape at the Unwrap Colour Etsy Store

2. 25 Blank Kraft Hang Tags – These are described as pennant shapes, but I think these also look like arrows to me! Either way it can be a great way to focus your crafting by restricting it to a small space like a tag, and this kraft surface looks like it will be fun to decorate:

25 Blank Kraft Hang Tags at the Unwrap Colour Etsy Shop

3. Gold Metallic Triangle Stickers – When you point triangles at things it really helps to focus your attention in that direction! These gold metallic stickers are a quick and shiny way to add focus to a project:

Aren’t these all awesome?! There’s plenty more in the shop too – currently 375 items to choose from!

A Giveaway! Sponsored By The Cut Shoppe! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

It’s time for the first sponsored giveaway of the event! {NOW CLOSED} This one is sponsored by the super-cool The Cut Shoppe, an etsy shop selling digital cut files & printables with lots of personality!

The Cut Shoppe Digital Cut Files & Printables

Ashley, the owner & designer at The Cut Shoppe, is giving away a fantastic prize, so keep reading to find out how to enter!

I have been wanting some files from The Cut Shoppe since it opened last year, and I’m glad this event has given me the push to buy some and start using them! They are really easy to cut and make a great impact on your projects.

Here’s some of the items in the shop, which I think are cool, and they go really well with the ‘Focus’ theme…

1. The Stay Focused Cut File – I love the lens shutter with ‘smile’ in the center – it’s great when you see a simple shape like a circle used in a different way, and the ‘focus on today’ tag is just perfect:

The Stay Focused Cut File at The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store

2. The You’ve Been Framed Cut File – Well this would be a great way to focus your crafting – by thinking how to fill all these frames… some for photos, some for journaling, some for embellishments, some for white space… oh the possibilities:

The You've Been Framed Cut File at The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store

3. The Target Practice Cut File – These arrows are so useable, I really like the one at the bottom right, which I can imagine me colouring in with nice bright colours:

Lots of fun stuff isn’t there?! There are a couple of other files I love for the Focus event, and which I’ll be sharing projects with this weekend – you’ve already seen me use the ‘Doodle Dandy’ and ‘Say Cheese’ files (on the card HERE), and I’ll be using the ‘Get Your Grid On’ background later this weekend too!

One lucky commenter will win:

The Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop & Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

I hope you’ve already found some inspiration from the event so far, and you are about to find a lot more… it’s time for the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop!

I didn’t have time to arrange one of these during the last event and I really missed it. It’s so fun to pop round a few of my online friend’s blogs and see how they’ve been inspired by the theme. I’m going to share a project of my own with you, then I shall send you on to 12 other blogs! If you go the whole way around the hop and leave a comment on each one you will be entered to win this prize:

WRMK Insta Album Shine Giveaway at Jennifer Grace Creates for the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop

A WRMK Insta Album Kit (Shine) which includes a 4×4″ album, 20 photo sleeves, journaling cards, and three self-inking stamps!

The giveaway is open internationally, and it will close on Sunday the 24th of May at 10pm BST {NOW CLOSED}. The winner will be announced on my blog, along with all the other winners, on Thursday the 28th of May, so make sure you check back then to see if you’ve won.

Here’s my project for the hop… I decided to FOCUS on the story…

The Minions:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

I wanted to focus on the story because the photo isn’t the best quality. It was taken on my smart phone, it’s quite blurry and grainy and the lighting isn’t great – I’ve taken a close up so you can see the detail a bit better:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

Despite the poor photo quality I really wanted to scrapbook the picture, because it’s such a great moment captured – of my little sister surrounded by her nieces and nephews… because she was playing a Minions app game on her phone, and it drew them all in like moths to a flame! This was also taken just before my sister was going travelling and we weren’t sure how long she was going to be away for, so it was great for her to have some quality time with all the kids.

To help me focus on the story I planned out my journaling first of all. This is soooo rare for me – I usually forget about adding a title and journaling until a page is almost finished, then I have to squeeze it all in! I chose some frames to use for the journaling and also picked out a background page which looked a bit wall-like, so the photo and frames were arranged like a gallery:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

I backed the frames with paper from a Simples Stories Sn@P 6×6 pad, just by drawing around the frames onto the paper before cutting it out, then adhering it to the back of the frames using a repositionable tape runner (being able to reposition it meant that I could tweak the paper to make sure the lines were straight in the frames):

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

I wrote the journaling in the large frames, and added the date to one of the smaller ones. I left the other small frame empty so that I could overlap some embellishments on it. I stuck these and the photo all down, with a bit of ribbon added too – to underline the frames a bit:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

Note that I also stuck the photo flat onto the page, rather than popping it up with foam tape, because I wanted the story frames to be the things that ‘stood out’.

I focused on the story even more by adding extra journaling at the bottom of the photo. This was jounaling that didn’t continue the story, but rather gave a different look at the situation. The journaling in the frames talks about what was actually happening in the picture, where as the ‘Auntie Katy = Fun’ at the side of the photo is what I imagine the kids are all thinking, and the bit below the photo (about how sometimes technology can be a thing to bring us together and bridge generations) is my inner dialogue about what the photo makes me think about:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

I made sure this extra journaling didn’t detract too much attention from the main story by adding all the main embellies around the story frames, including an arrow pointing at the date:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

I also made sure to include some bright yellow embellishments, especially some enamel dots, as a nod to the bright colour of Minions:

A Focus On The Story Layout at Jennifer Grace Creates (part of the Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Hop)

The story certainly stands out on this page for me, what do you think?

Be Inspired:

Use frames to hold your journaling

Pick an accent colour to match your subject matter rather than colours in your photo

Make a gallery-wall – on your actual wall or on a layout, card, etc

If you’ve only just discovered my blog via one of the other blogs in the hop then hello! It’s nice to meet you. I’m Jennifer Grace and I’m the host of the hop – it’s part of a weekend long event I’m holding, full of tutorials, giveaways, and more, so make sure you check out the start and the grand giveaway HERE.

Now it’s time to send you on to the next blog in the hop… the wonderful Sheena at Scraps And Scribbles!

If you get lost at anytime during the hop then here’s the full list to help you out:

The Focus Your Craft & Soul Welcome and Grand Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the list of all the posts HERE!)

Hello and welcome to the start of my FREE blog event. It’s time to…

Focus Your Craft & Soul!

Focus Your Craft & Soul Blog Event at Jennifer Grace Creates 15th-17th May 2015

If you haven’t heard about this event before, then here are the details: This weekend (15th-17th May 2015) from 4pm – 10pm Friday and 10am – 10pm Saturday and Sunday (BST) there will be posts going live EVERY HOUR! There will be lots of crafts, tutorials, challenges, tips, a blog hop, and of course some lovely giveaways!

All giveaways AND challenges are open for entry until Sunday the 24th of May at 10pm BST {NOW CLOSED} so you’ve got a week to join in.

The theme for the event is loosely based on my word-of-the-year ‘Focus’. This will cover a variety of ideas on how to focus your crafting, about living in the moment, making sure you appreciate the little things, and how to use focal points. We’ll also be using a lot of icons like targets, frames, arrows, triangles, and cameras!

Let’s kick things off with the Grand Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

The Focus Your Craft & Soul Grand Giveaway at Jennifer Grace Creates! Closes 24th May 2015 at 10pm BST

One lucky person will win this prize package. It contains…

Big Things:

4 sheets of Simple Stories 12×12 paper (I Am ‘4×4 Elements’ and ‘Beautiful’, Life Documented ‘The Daily Lens’, and Daily Grind ‘Rise & Shine’)

3 sheets of Crate Paper 12×12 paper (Craft Market ‘Pattern’ glitter paper and ‘Studio’, and Journey ‘Tribal’)

Simple Stories I Am 12×12 Fundamentals Stickers

A Heidi Swapp 12×12 Stencil (Arrows)

A My Mind’s Eye 6×6 Pad (Just Splendid)

Embellishments:

Freckled Fawn Puffy Alpha Stickers (Pink) and Wood Chips (Arrows), AC Shimelle True Stories Camera Stamp, Crate Paper Journey Puffy Stickers and half a pack of Craft Market Wood Veneer Embroidery Hoops (winner gets 3), half a pack of Simple Stories I Am Chipboard Frames (winner gets 12), AC Pink & White Bakers Twine and Teal Polkadot Ribbon.

So how do you get the chance to win these goodies?

We’re going back to the old way to win the grand giveaway – by commenting! You could just leave a comment on this post – that will give you one entry into the draw. But every comment on any post that goes live this weekend will count as another entry into the draw!

You will only be entered into the Grand Giveaway if you have commented on this welcome post. That way if you don’t want to win the prize – maybe you already own all these goodies (?!) – then don’t comment here, but you can still comment on all the other posts this weekend (including all the other giveaways) without being entered.

To tempt you to enter, and show you what can be done with some of the items in the prize pack, here’s a brooch I made using the same supplies…

Wood Veneer Hoop Brooch:

A Brooch using the Crate Paper Embroidery Hoop Wood Veneer Shapes at Jennifer Grace Creates

To make one for yourself:

1. Draw around the hoop wood veneer on some patterned paper.
2. Cut the circle out, and stick a phrase on – I cut the ‘on a journey’ phrase up so it didn’t cover up all the arrows on the paper.
3. Add some Mod Podge or other wet glue around the back of the wood hoop.
4. Press the circle onto the glue. If any seeps out onto the front of the circle then smooth it out with a piece of kitchen paper.
5. You can also add some Mod Podge around the edge of the hoop to make sure the paper is sealed at the edges.
6. Stick on a brooch-back using Glossy Accents or a similar strong glue.
7. When the Glossy Accents is dry flip the brooch over and finish decorating the front. I stuck half the butterfly stick straight onto the hoop and used a foam dot under the other half to make sure it was level.

A Brooch using the Crate Paper Embroidery Hoop Wood Veneer Shapes at Jennifer Grace Creates

I will add a brooch-back into the prize package in case the winner wants to make this too!

Be Inspired:

Use some papercrafting supplies to make a brooch

Fill a negative space (eg inside a circle) with some arrow patterned paper

Cut up a phrase to make it fit your project

Make sure you have ‘liked’ the Jennifer Grace Creates Facebook Page if you want to chat during the event. If you enjoy the blog posts during the weekend it would be great if you could share the posts on Pinterest or other social media, or post your projects to my Facebook page etc (you can hashtag #focusyourcraft on anything to do with this event). It makes my hard work worth it when I see my posts, or your projects inspired by them, popping up all over the place!

Don’t forget to comment here to be entered into the Grand Giveaway! The giveaway is open internationally, and it will close at 10pm (BST) on Sunday the 24th of May. {NOW CLOSED}

I see you again at 5pm! Are you excited that the event has started?!

It includes 7 sheets of paper and two sets of stickers from the Webster’s Pages Dream In Color collection, plus a pack of MME On Trend enamel shapes, a couple of wood veneer cameras and some sequins.

To enter this giveaway you need to use the rafflecopter widget below. One of the options is to leave a blog post comment telling me what helps you get focused on your crafting (eg challenges, new stash, or a clean craft room… what makes you more efficient?) – please note you need to leave a comment AND click on the rafflecopter widget to say you’ve done so, as that’s where the winner will be chosen from. There are also ways to earn more entries by sharing the news on Pinterest, Twitter, etc.

The giveaway closes on Tuesday the 12th of May at 12.00am GMT, and will be announced a day or two later here on this blog. It is open internationally.

Of course you can always comment and share news of the event without entering the giveaway if you would like to!

You can also ‘like’ my Jennifer Grace Creates Facebook Page for sneaks and a ‘guess the projects’ contest (with another prize) in the run up to the event!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read all this, I hope you are excited about the event, I will look forward to seeing you then!
