My Product Picks – Summer Releases 2015!

Have you been watching all the scrapbook companies release their latest products over the last couple of months? I was too busy to keep an eye on it, especially as they all spread their releases out now that there’s no big summer CHA show.

However, I did sit down a couple of weeks ago to use the links from Scrapbook Update HERE, and Scrappy Jedi HERE, as well as scrolling back on manufacturer blogs, so that I could see all the new goodies!

My Product Picks Summer 2015 at Jennifer Grace Creates

Here’s my product picks of all the latest things I’d like to buy when they hit the shops. The titles and the photos are linked to the full reveals. I’m going to start with the everyday-themed items then move on to the Christmas collections & stamps…

Pink Paislee Cedar Lane:

 Pink Paislee Cedar Lane

Autumn is my favourite season, though we don’t get as many golden colours here in Dorset as we used to in Essex where I grew up. But that’s okay as I can console myself with this collection – full of fall hues and heart-warming phrases.

I especially like the ephemera, with the leafy wreath and the ‘snuggle up’ golden words:

American Crafts – Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers:

Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers

I have become a big fan of Amy Tangerine and Her YouTube videos lately. This colourful collection is perfectly her style – colourful, quirky, fun!

I am drooling over the wood slices and the wooden stamp set. I don’t know how much I’d use the pineapple stamps but I want them anyway:

Crate Paper Wonder:

 Crate Paper Wonder

This is such a cute childhood collection. It’s filled with whimsical characters and pretty icons. I really like the puffy stickers which features houses and the little animal faces.

But the item I want most of all is the wood veneer framework in the shape of a house:

I can totally imagine me filling this with pretty things!

Jillibean Soup Mix The Media – Wood:

There’s a few different wood plank shapes on the reveal, but the one I really want is this star. It would be great for any time of year:

My Mind’s Eye Christmas On Market Street:

This collection is just so gorgeous. I want to wrap my house up in it at Christmas time! I love the mix of teal, red and gold, and the swirly writing, and all the decorated antlers.

The glittery puffy stickers are the bit I love the most. This product photo below doesn’t do them justice, see THIS PHOTO that MME posted on Instagram where you can see a snippet of how sparkly they are. I must have them:

Pinkfresh Studio Christmas Wishes:

The character in this winter collection are just so full of personality! It’s the most unique Christmas collection I came across – I feel like it’s something I’ve never seen before and it would make my projects feel super special.

I really love the stamp set and the puffy stickers:

Cocoa Vanilla Tis The Season:

This collection is pretty! The soft minty blue is stunning!

These stars look so shiny. And they’d look good on projects all year round:

Lawn Fawn Christmas Stamps:

These two stamp sets from Lawn Fawn have totally stolen my heart. You can expect to see some projects using them during Frosty Festivities 2015. Isn’t the snowglobe totally perfect?!:

Hero Arts – Kelly Purkey Stamps:

I also really like these smaller (3×4″) stamp sets, designed by Kelly Purkey for Hero Arts. The ‘joy’ brush-writing sentiment is gorgeous and I love the patterns on the trees. These sets would be good for layouts as well as cards & tags:

I want to stamp some little trees, cut them out, then tie them around a candle jar!

So those are the items I’d like to buy. I won’t be able to afford them all but I’m sure some of them will slide into my online baskets! Especially the Christmas stuff – I can’t run Frosty Festivities without them, can I?!

What have you spotted recently that you’d like to get your hands on? Anything from my list?

Have a great day,

Jillibean Soup Projects – I Gave It A Try!

Hello all. How are things? It’s nice and sunny here which is cheering me up!

Today I have some projects to show you that I made for a Jillibean Soup Design Team Application. Unfortunately I did not make the team, but at least I get to share my projects here with you!

Scruffy Shoes:

This page shows the damage to my lovely brown boots – and the shoes of my sister, niece, and daughter – when we’d been camping for a rainy few days. My boots never fully recovered! My favourite bit of this page is the multicoloured lights, which I made by masking off different parts of a Cold Avocado Soup stamp and using a variety of embossing powders:

What’s Cookin’ Good Lookin’?:

What's Cookin' card by Jennifer Grace

I made this card using one of the Jillibean Soup Placemats, which I cut down for the front of my card. I used a stencil with some embossing paste and glitter to fill one circle with sparkly dots!

My Grandad Is Magic:

This photo is of my Grandad dressed as Dumbledore, for a Harry Potter themed birthday party that my friends threw for me last year (it was awesome!). I made the hat for him from grey felt, gold ribbon, and some bakers twine – it took me about 20 minutes – thank goodness for all the stash I can use for costume emergencies!

Hello Today:

I had fun layering up the bits and pieces on this card, especially having the sentiment inside a frame – I rarely use frame embellishments for actual photos as they are so small, so I like to use them for sentiments, journaling, or embellishment clusters instead!

Gift Wrap and Tag:

Tag & Glittery Wrap by Jennifer Grace

I used some Cold Avocado Soup stamps on light brown packaging paper, stamping in blue and yellow acrylic paints (making sure to wash the stamps before the paint dried) and also sprinkling some glitter on while the paint was wet so it stuck to the image. Nice and sparkly!

Well, I tried my best, I will give it another go next year!

If you want to try out for a team don’t forget to check out the site that I manage, I’ve just posted the calls that finish this week!

Time To Cleanse – My Word For 2014

Hello! Happy New Year!

There’s lots going on here to make me happy. Firstly, just before Christmas I announced on Facebook that I won £5000 GBP for an Ebay competition that I entered. How flipping exciting is that? The money came through to paypal on New Years Eve, so it was a very nice way to start the year. Of course, most of it disappeared into paying off the credit card and other debts, but I managed to buy myself a graphics tablet too, and I have a bit set aside for spending on new CHA releases and some prizes for my next blog event!

On another note, we are moving house! Not buying, just renting like we do at the moment. But regular readers may remember that I mentioned back in September that we were looking for somewhere with a garden, but properties are hard to come by here, so I was getting fed up. We found somewhere and we’re moving on the 17th of January. So we are packing like crazy and boxes and mess are piling up all over the place, which is not the fun bit, but I’m still very happy because soon we’ll have a garden. Also, I scrap on the dining table, and here our dining room has one very small window, so I have the ceiling light on constantly. In the new house I will be scrapping with dual aspect windows, one set being patio doors that open onto the garden. It is sooooooo light! I can’t wait!

Well, now I’ve got all that out of the way, I have a layout to share today. It’s about my word of the year for 2014 – ‘Cleanse’…

Time To Cleanse:

I decided this word a while ago. I felt like my life and body was getting a bit cluttered with junk, so it was time for a freshen up!

I used mainly the Jillibean Soup Cold Avocado Soup collection for this page, as it had the perfect blues and yellows which feel so refreshing to me. It also had lots of good phrases, like the above ‘note this’ flashcard which I sewed a blanket stitch around to make it stand out more, and the below ‘today, tomorrow, always’ journal card from the Bite Size Bits sheet which seemed like the perfect place to write down my goals:

The journaling reads:

In 2014 I want to cleanse – to drink more water, eat less processed foods, spend more time in the sea, and to simplify my life (at least a little bit). I know I will not be perfect but I can try!

I used a resist-misting technique like on a previous tutorial HERE to create a part of the background, using the ‘Large’ and the ‘Better Together’ stamp sets with clear ink and clear embossing powder on white cardstock, and then spraying with mists (Heidi Swapp Mint Green and Seafoam, and Tattered Angels Firefly). I sprayed them without waiting for the individual colours to dry, so they all blended into each other a bit:

The cute cloud and raindrop wood veneers are from Freckled Fawn, how teeny tiny are those raindrops?!

I finished off the page with this ‘Life is Good’ sticker, I’m hoping that will help me keep me positive all year round:

What do you think about the word cleanse? Do you have a word for the year?

I’ll keep you updated on how I get on with my word (you’ll probably hear lots about it on my next blog event!), and I’ll also let you see some pics of the new house once we’ve moved! I will be back again before that though… a couple more project posts and one with a giveaway!

See you again soon, Jennifer x
