The Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Hop & Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Event – see a list of all the posts HERE)

I’m so excited, as it’s time for the Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Hop! It’s a chance to hop around and visit some of my online friends’ blogs, to see how they’ve been inspired by the winter or Christmas theme. If you’ve only just discovered my blog via one of the other blogs in the hop then ‘hello’! It’s nice to meet you. I’m Jennifer Grace and I’m the host of the hop – it’s part of a month-long event I’m holding, full of tutorials, giveaways, and more!

I’m going to share a project, then at the end of this post I will send you on to the next blog in the hop. I’ve also got a list of all the blogs in the hop in case you get lost anywhere. If you visit and comment on all the blogs in the hop then you’ll be entered to win this prize {NOW CLOSED}:

Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Hop Giveaway at Jennifer Grace Creates

It includes a Lawn Fawn ‘Ready, Set, Snow’ stamp set, half of a ‘Let’s Bokeh In The Snow’ 6×6 pad, and bakers twine, along with an A5 sketchbook,  some metallic rhinestone stickers, a couple of Christmas ribbons, and a few other bits and pieces!

The giveaway is open internationally, and it closes on Sunday the 6th of December 2015 (the same as all the other giveaways that are part of Frosty Festivities 2015 – see them all HERE). The winner will be announced on my blog on Thursday the 10th of December, so make sure you check back then to see if you won!

Here’s my project for the hop. I decided to keep it simple with a decorated notebook which could be a stocking filler or teacher gift:

I started with a plain notebook (or sketchbook – the pages are plain), the stamp set, rhinestones, and some scraps of paper from the 6×6 pad:

I stamped the snowglobe, trees, sentiment, and snow all as one layer onto a piece of white card, using Avery Elle ink pads:

I cut some squares of different sizes from the paper scraps, then cut the squares in half diagonally to make triangles. I didn’t measure them at all. When I’d cut a good number out I arranged them on the notebook cover, with the snowglobe, and stuck them down once I was happy with the design:

I dotted a few silver metallic rhinestones around the triangles pattern:

And used Mod Podge to add some green fine glitter to the trees to make them look a bit more special:

Then it was all finished and ready to gift to someone this Christmas:

Be Inspired:

Cut some triangles from Christmas patterned paper to use on a project

Stamp an embellishment to use near the center of a scrapbook layout or card

Use 4 shades of green (I used 2 colours of green ink, green paper, and green glitter – all a slightly different shade)

Now it’s time to send you on to the next blog in the hop – the fabulous Claire at Creative Makings!

If you get lost during the hop then here’s the full list to help you out:

.

Remember to comment on them all for the chance to win the blog hop prize of Lawn Fawn goodies and more!

I’ll see you again tomorrow for the next Frosty Festivities project!

I Can’t Wait To Give You Christmas Hugs Card

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Event – see a list of all the posts HERE)

Today I’m sharing this Christmas Hugs Card, featuring 2 snow-people who can’t wait to break free from their snow globes and give each other some Christmas cuddles:

Christmas Hugs Card at Jennifer Grace Creates using the Lawn Fawn 'Ready, Set, Snow' Stamp Set

This was partly inspired by the new John Lewis Christmas advert, where a little girl tries to send a gift to a lonely man that lives on the moon. I still haven’t decided how much I like the advert, but I think the sentiment is sweet – that even if you won’t see someone soon it’s good to know you are thinking of them in the run up to Christmas. So I came up with the idea to have 2 characters that couldn’t quite reach each other for a hug, but you obviously hope they will soon!

Here’s how I put the card together…

Step 1: Use the Lawn Fawn ‘Ready, Set, Snow’ stamp set to stamp a snow globe onto some snowy looking paper (I used Lawn Fawn ‘Let’s Bokeh In The Snow’ 6×6 pad):

Step 2: Fussy-cut around the snow globe, cut it in half, and ink the edges with more black ink:

Step 3: Stamp the snow-people and the ‘Merry Christmas’ greeting from the same stamp set onto white card, and fussy-cut them out. Then colour in the hats, scarves, and noses of the snow people, and cut the ‘Merry Christmas’ between the words, inking around the edges of the sentiment too:

Step 4: Print out the sentiment ‘I can’t wait to give you Christmas hugs’ or find a similar sentiment in your stamp stash. I used the ‘Amatic’ font for mine:

Step 5: Layer some more papers onto a card blank, stick your snow-people and sentiment onto the snow globes, and place them on top of the papers without sticking the snow globes or the ‘Christmas Hugs’ sentiment down yet – you just need to check where they will be going. Then you can stamp some tiny little hearts (I used one from the Lawn Fawn ‘Flirty Frames’ stamp set) as though they are floating up from the snow-people:

Step 6: Once the hearts are stamped you can stick on the ‘Christmas Hugs’ sentiment and the snow globes, using foam tape or dots to give the card more dimension. Then add a few gems or metallic pearls if you want to:

The card is finished and ready to send to someone you love but don’t get to see very often!

Be Inspired:

Stamp a large image then cut it in half to use one or both halves on a project

Make a project inspired by a Christmas TV Advert from now or in the past

Use the words ‘Christmas Hugs’ on a card, layout, or other project

What do you think , do you like the card, or do you feel too sad that the snow-people can’t reach each other?! I think I will stamp them on the inside of the card too, all snuggled up this time!

Remember that commenting on this post, and any post that goes live during November 2015, will count as another entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}, but only if you’ve registered your interest in winning that prize right HERE!

I’ll be back tomorrow morning at 8am GMT with the next Frosty Festivities project.

My Product Picks – Summer Releases 2015!

Have you been watching all the scrapbook companies release their latest products over the last couple of months? I was too busy to keep an eye on it, especially as they all spread their releases out now that there’s no big summer CHA show.

However, I did sit down a couple of weeks ago to use the links from Scrapbook Update HERE, and Scrappy Jedi HERE, as well as scrolling back on manufacturer blogs, so that I could see all the new goodies!

My Product Picks Summer 2015 at Jennifer Grace Creates

Here’s my product picks of all the latest things I’d like to buy when they hit the shops. The titles and the photos are linked to the full reveals. I’m going to start with the everyday-themed items then move on to the Christmas collections & stamps…

Non-Christmas

Pink Paislee Cedar Lane:

 Pink Paislee Cedar Lane

Autumn is my favourite season, though we don’t get as many golden colours here in Dorset as we used to in Essex where I grew up. But that’s okay as I can console myself with this collection – full of fall hues and heart-warming phrases.

I especially like the ephemera, with the leafy wreath and the ‘snuggle up’ golden words:

American Crafts – Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers:

Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers

I have become a big fan of Amy Tangerine and Her YouTube videos lately. This colourful collection is perfectly her style – colourful, quirky, fun!

I am drooling over the wood slices and the wooden stamp set. I don’t know how much I’d use the pineapple stamps but I want them anyway:

Crate Paper Wonder:

 Crate Paper Wonder

This is such a cute childhood collection. It’s filled with whimsical characters and pretty icons. I really like the puffy stickers which features houses and the little animal faces.

But the item I want most of all is the wood veneer framework in the shape of a house:

I can totally imagine me filling this with pretty things!

Jillibean Soup Mix The Media – Wood:

There’s a few different wood plank shapes on the reveal, but the one I really want is this star. It would be great for any time of year:

Christmas

My Mind’s Eye Christmas On Market Street:

My Mind's Eye Christmas On Market Street

This collection is just so gorgeous. I want to wrap my house up in it at Christmas time! I love the mix of teal, red and gold, and the swirly writing, and all the decorated antlers.

The glittery puffy stickers are the bit I love the most. This product photo below doesn’t do them justice, see THIS PHOTO that MME posted on Instagram where you can see a snippet of how sparkly they are. I must have them:

Pinkfresh Studio Christmas Wishes:

The character in this winter collection are just so full of personality! It’s the most unique Christmas collection I came across – I feel like it’s something I’ve never seen before and it would make my projects feel super special.

I really love the stamp set and the puffy stickers:

Cocoa Vanilla Tis The Season:

This collection is pretty! The soft minty blue is stunning!

These stars look so shiny. And they’d look good on projects all year round:

Lawn Fawn Christmas Stamps:

These two stamp sets from Lawn Fawn have totally stolen my heart. You can expect to see some projects using them during Frosty Festivities 2015. Isn’t the snowglobe totally perfect?!:

Hero Arts – Kelly Purkey Stamps:

I also really like these smaller (3×4″) stamp sets, designed by Kelly Purkey for Hero Arts. The ‘joy’ brush-writing sentiment is gorgeous and I love the patterns on the trees. These sets would be good for layouts as well as cards & tags:

I want to stamp some little trees, cut them out, then tie them around a candle jar!

So those are the items I’d like to buy. I won’t be able to afford them all but I’m sure some of them will slide into my online baskets! Especially the Christmas stuff – I can’t run Frosty Festivities without them, can I?!

What have you spotted recently that you’d like to get your hands on? Anything from my list?

Have a great day,

Jennifer x
