Frosty Festivities Christmas & Winter, Giftwrapping

Embroidered Christmas Tags

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Event – see a list of all the posts HERE)

Yesterday I posted a giveaway from the Little Dorrit & Co Etsy Shop who sell beautiful PDF embroidery patterns – you can see that giveaway HERE {NOW CLOSED}. Today I’m back to show you how I used The Gingerbread Man PDF pattern which I purchased from them! I decided to stitch just some of the details onto a couple of Embroidered Christmas Tags…

They are all ready fo an extra special present, or to be stuck on a card or scrapbook page!

To make some tags of your own…

Step 1: Print off an embroidery template and cut out the pieces you want to use, making sure they fit on your tags:

Step 2: If the tag is light or thin enough, then you can tape the pattern to a window, and trace the design onto the tag:

If the tag is light or thin enough then just tape the pattern on top of the tag:

Step 3: Pierce holes along the lines of a traced image:

Or if the image is stuck on top of the tag just pierce the holes along the lines, going through the paper and the tag at the same time:

You can draw pencil lines to connect the holes if you need to make it clearer where the stitching should go – I drew lines along the tinsel of the trees so I didn’t get confused between that and the baubles:

Step 4: Use embroidery thread to sew back-stitches and french knots along the designs (I used 2 strands of embroidery thread on all):

Step 5: The backs of the tags will look a little messy:

So if the people might see the back of the tags (if you are not sticking them flat onto a project) then cover the messy backs with patterned paper:

Step 6: Finish the tags off with some bling if you want to, I used liquid pearls to make some snowy dots:

Anyone who receives these will know you spent some time making them a special tag!

Be Inspired:

Use an embroidery pattern or printable icon to add stitching to a project

Find or make a gingerbread man embellishment to craft with

Create some snow with liquid pearls, sequins, gems, or enamel dots

Do you think you’d stick these tags on a present or keep them for a special scrapbook layout?

Remember that commenting on this post, and any post that goes live during November 2015, will count as another entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}, but only if you’ve registered your interest in winning that prize right HERE!

I’ll be back tomorrow at 2pm GMT for the frosty festivities 2015 blog hop!

Frosty Festivities Christmas & Winter

The Frosty Festivities 2015 Welcome and Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}!

(This post is the first of my Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Event – see a list of all the posts HERE)

Hello and welcome to the start of my Frosty Festivities 2015 Blog Event!

Frosty Festivities 2015 Crafty Blog Event at Jennifer Grace Creates

In case you missed the previous news about the event, here’s how it’s going to work…

There will be at least one post a day between now and the 30th of November, all on the theme of Winter and Christmas crafty inspiration (including scrapbook layouts, cards, diy gifts, home decor, and more), plus a blog hop, giveaways, and challenge prompts (giveaways and challenges will stay open until the 6th of December)!

For every post there’s a ‘Be Inspired’ section at the end, to give you pointers to new ideas. If a post doesn’t feature your usual craft (eg if it’s kids crafts and you don’t have kids) you can still look at the ‘Be Inspired’ section as it will have ways to interpret the post to suit other crafty activities, eg. using the colour scheme, patterns, etc.

Let’s kick things off with the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}!

The Frosty Festivities 2015 Grand Giveaway at Jennifer Grace Creates

One winner will receive all these goodies! The prize includes:

4 sheets of 12 x 12″paper from Basic Grey Juniper Berry (‘Journal Cards’, ‘Good Cheer’, ‘Holly Jolly’ and ‘Rooftop’)

1 sheet of Juniper Berry 5 x 12″ Cardstock Stickers

5 sheets of 12 x 12″ paper from Shimelle Christmas Magic (‘Deliver’, ‘Click’, ‘Joy’, ‘Trim’, and ‘Bright’)

Christmas Magic Bauble Stamp

4 sheets of 12 x 12″ paper from Pinkfresh Studio Christmas Wishes (‘Christmas Parade’, ‘Winter Joy’, ‘Oh Deer’, and ‘Starry Night’)

1 pack of Christmas Wishes Puffy Stickers

The My Mind’s Eye Christmas On Market Street 6 x 6″ pad, Glitter Foam Stickers, Cardstock Die-Cuts, and Enamel Dots

So how do you get the chance to win these goodies?

By commenting! You could just leave a comment on this post – that will give you one entry into the draw. But every comment on any post that goes live this month will count as another entry into the draw! (Commenting on posts that were published prior to November 2015 will not count.)

You will only be entered into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} if you have commented on this welcome post. That way if you don’t want to win the prize – maybe you already own all these goodies (?!) – then don’t comment here, but you can still comment on all the other posts this month (including all the other giveaways) without being entered.

To tempt you to enter, and show you what can be done with some of the items in the prize pack, here’s a tag I made using the same supplies…

The Frosty Festivities 2015 Grand Giveaway at Jennifer Grace Creates

I knew I wanted to use the Juniper Berry sticker with the floral Christmas On Market Street paper, as the colours just looked so good together. But when I cut the sticker out (leaving the backing on so I could test it) and laid it on the floral paper, I realised it would look way too busy:

So I cut the paper to just fill the bottom of my tag. Then the sticker stood out nicely, and I could fill up the top of the tag with a pretty scene!

The deer at the top of the tag is fussy-cut from the Basic Grey Juniper Berry ‘Journal Cards’ paper, I think he looks very dapper! The present and the teal star from the Christmas Wishes puffy stickers go really well with the other elements too.

Be Inspired:

Use floral or busy patterned paper at the bottom half of a project, with plain paper or card at the top

Fussy-cut a deer, tree, present, or other Christmas symbol

Mix items from at least 3 different crafty companies on your next page, card or tag

Make sure you have ‘liked’ the Jennifer Grace Creates Facebook Page if you want to chat during the event. If you enjoy the blog posts during the event it would be great if you could share the posts on Pinterest or other social media, or post your projects to my Facebook page etc (you can hashtag #frostyfest2015 on anything to do with this event). It makes my hard work worth it when I see my posts, or your projects inspired by them, popping up all over the place!

Don’t forget to comment here to be entered into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}! The giveaway is open internationally, and it will close at 10pm (GMT) on Sunday the 6th of December.

Are you excited that the event has started?! I’ll be back later today (4pm GMT) with the Challenge To Be Inspired!

Thanks Tag for the Wrap Up Post - Focus Your Craft & soul at Jennifer Grace Creates

I created a little mountain scene to point at the sentiment, by using some new items I bought at the Unwrap Colour Etsy Shop! I used the Teal Triangles and Yellow Geometric Washi Tapes, and the Gold Metallic Triangle Stickers, anong with a ‘thanks’ stamp and a couple of wood veneer triangles.

I’m going to make a bunch of these tags to send out with the giveaway prizes, so if you are a winner you can look out for it!

Be Inspired:

Use triangles to create a mountain scene

Create three layers of the same shape (eg. here the triangles are on washi, stickers, and wood veneers)

Make a focus inspired thank you tag

I hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend. What was your favourite post?
